Free prenatal fitness course – Fit for 2!
All pregnant women, regardless of their pre-pregnancy physical and training status, are eligible for a free pregnancy-specific exercise course called “Fit For 2”, which is offered by GENESIS. Obtaining the attending gynecologist’s consent is a prerequisite for course participation.
According to ACOG, ACSM, and SCOGC recommendations, Fit For 2 combines a variety of exercises while also being modified and tailored to the needs and specific trimester of the pregnant women in the department, thus ensuring that each expectant mother receives the advantages of exercise during pregnancy. Pregnant women who participate in the course can enhance all aspects of their physical health, strengthen their mental health, possibly reduce or eliminate musculoskeletal pain, and be functional in their daily lives. The course consists of fitness-related exercises as well as yoga, orthosomic workout, aerobics, Kegel method, pilates method, and myofascial release therapy.
Fit For 2 includes:
- Exercises to strengthen or maintain the musculoskeletal system.
- Pelvic floor exercises.
- Breathing exercises and relaxation techniques to calm both the mind and the Central Nervous System.
- Stretches and myofascial release exercises.
With the gynecologist’s consent, you can begin the exercise course right away and attend it throughout your pregnancy.
After giving birth, the pregnant woman’s participation in the exercise course ends. In the early stages of labor, women can perform breathing and ball exercises even in the hospital maternity ward.
