At Genesis Clinic, we have created a Model Centre, with state of the art medical equipment in terms of machinery and software, in the hands of specialized doctors, who carry out all the modern and most reliable diagnostic tests to monitor the development of the fetus, from the moment of conception to delivery.

The department offers the full range of invasive and non-invasive methods ofprenatal diagnosis, for different stages of pregnancy and fetal age, using the technologies of ultrasound, biochemical markers and genetics.

The high quality of services is ensured by the staffing of the department with specialized in ultrasound byGynecologists, accredited by the international organization FMF. Moreover, the department uses:

High-resolution ultrasound and 4D color imaging devices:

    • GE Voluson E10: Excellence in Fetal Cardiac Screening
    • GE Voluson E6
    • ASTRAIA – Special statistical monitoring software
    • KRYPTOR – Biochemical Analyzer
    • Independent secretariat, front desk and examination area
    • Flexible operating hours

Promotional Package for the Department of Fetal-Maternal Medicine

Genesis Clinic offers an upgrade of room category in childbirth, for those women who have a full ultrasound examination at our clinic, in particular:

    A) the 1st trimester Ultrasound scan / Nuchal Translucency & PAPP-A measurement and the Level II Ultrasound

or B) Doppler combined with an ultrasound

    Promotional Package for Doppler U/S

In addition, those women who proceed to Doppler and have already performed in GENESIS:

    1. the first trimester ultrasound scan / Nuchal Translucency & PAPP-A measurement and

    2. the Level II Ultrasound,

Doppler will be charged 80€ instead of 135€, through a discount, while if only one of the two examinations is performed during the previous quarters, the charge for the Doppler will be 110€.

The above charges are for the fetal development Ultrasound and the Fetal-Placental Circulation Test. This is a general ultrasound assessment of good fetal development, which is performed in the third trimester of pregnancy (32 weeks). During the examination, a number of important parameters are evaluated such as:

    • the measurement of the size and the estimation of the weight of the fetus
    • the measurement of the amniotic fluid volume
    • the position and appearance of the placenta
    • the examination of fetal movements – biophysical profile
    • the evaluation – differentiation of heart rate
    • the monitoring of blood flow (Doppler): in the Uterine Artery (L & R), the Umbilical Artery and the Middle Cerebral Artery

Regarding the PAPP-A/free beta hCG test, it is included in the range of EOPYY examinations and is performed on the KRYPTOR analyzer. The laboratory is accredited with ISO 15189:2012 by the Hellenic Accreditation System (ESYD) for these tests. Results are issued within 2 hours (working days).

Also from the 1st trimester of pregnancy the PLGF is determined and included together with the ultrasound measurements in the calculation of the probability of pre-eclampsia.

    Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing

At Genesis Clinic, Non – Invasive Prenatal Testing is performed by simply taking a blood sample from the mother from the 10th week of pregnancy. Non – Invasive Prenatal Testing is a new method of detecting chromosomal abnormalities of the fetus, such as Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome), Trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome), Trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome) and Monosomy X (Turner syndrome). Our clinic offers several Non-Invasive Prenatal Screening packages (Pacifi- Illumina):

    • Aneuploidies of chromosomes 21,13,18 and sex chromosomes
    • Check for aneuploidies in all chromosomes of the embryo and check for microdeletions/microduplications >7Mb
    • Check for aneuploidies in all chromosomes of the embryo and check for microdeletions/microduplications >7Mb and 9 microdeletion syndromes

In case the fetus is found positive for trisomy, the Clinic will perform an amniocentesis at no extra charge to the pregnant woman (excluding the doctor).

    Useful Information

FMF: The Associate Doctors who staff the department have received appropriate training and certification for ultrasound competence from the Fetal Medicine Foundation of Great Britain. Their high level of training is ensured by mandatory lifelong training and assessment to maintain their FMF ultrasound license.

ASTRAIA: The design of the statistical program was carried out by renowned scientists in Fetal Diagnostics and aims to provide standardized terminology and valid statistical evaluation, using the latest scientific research and statistical data from reliable clinical studies. The update is guided and controlled by a board of directors, in which scientific representation is global.

KRYPTOR: This is a biochemical analyzer based on TRACE (Time Resolved Amplified Cryptate Emission) technology, based on the Nobel Prize-winning research work of French chemist Jean-Marie Lehn’s. The above method is automated and ensures accurate determination of the concentration under analysis. The KRYPTOR Analyzer is the first Analyzer accredited by the FMF and features excellent accuracy and repeatability. The laboratory participates with the KRYPTOR Analyzer in the interlaboratory control scheme of the Edinburgh Medical School of Great Britain-NEQAS.
