Aiming to provide its patients with the quickest care possible, the Department of Imaging at GENESIS is staffed by highly-experienced specialists and is fully equipped with the newest technology machines.

This Department performs CT scans and MRI scans as well as radiological, osteoporosis, triplex, and ultrasound studies.

    CT Scanner

The Hospital runs a Department of Computed Tomography with a state-of-the-art 32-slices (using IVR) Siemens Somatom GoOn CT Scanner (model 2017) and its distinguishing feature is—aside from the excellent images and sophisticated software it has— that it emits less radiation compared to any other CT machine, burdening the human body as little as possible. The use of a cutting-edge CT scanner greatly improves safety and upgrades the services offered, as diagnostic needs, particularly in challenging emergencies, multiply. Additionally, given the significant increase in oncology cases and the extensive surgical procedures now performed in our Hospital, its operation is of utmost importance. The best possible use of the machine is ensured by our trained radiologists and knowledgeable staff.

    MRI Scanner

One of the most cutting-edge MRI machines in use in Thessaloniki is the brand-new, state-of-the-art 1.5 Tesla General Electric Signa Voyager Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system at GENESIS.

The Department of Imaging now has a wider range of services available, including high definition MRI studies in addition to the operation of the state-of-the-art SIEMENS CT scanner, the GE Digital Mammographer, the Department of Radiology/X-ray, Ultrasounds, and Bone Density Measurement (DEXA).

Specialized, highly skilled staff (radiologists and technologists) with extensive experience support the operation of the MRI Scanner. The MRI room is built to European standards and offers patient safety, comfort, private preparation areas, lockers for personal belongings and valuables storage, and a sizable waiting area in a very welcoming setting.

    • Breast ultrasound with a specialized probe

    Procedures:

    • Breast screening and diagnostics
    • Breast ultrasound
    • Color Doppler breast U/S
    • F.N.A (Fine Needle Aspiration) for cystic and solid masses
    • Ultrasound-guided biopsy
    • Stereotactic biopsy (mammogram-guided)
    • Breast Hookwire Localization (stereotactic)
    • Breast Hookwire Localization (ultrasound-guided)
    • Collaboration with a specialized cytology and pathology lab.

Additionally, GENESIS has acquired the most modern ultrasound machine for Heart TRIPLEX (Aloka F37), thus enhancing the safety of both procedures and childbirths performed at the Hospital.

It is a useful tool for cardiologists that guarantees safe and accurate diagnosis for both inpatients and patients undergoing preoperative assessment.
