The multifunctional Intensive Care Unit <\/strong>of the GENESIS Clinic has a capacity of 6 beds and its purpose is to treat patients who are in immediate danger of life-threatening situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ICU of the Genesis Clinic <\/strong>is an independently defined, specially equipped and staffed area. In the ICU, critically ill patients with an immediate risk to their lives are treated, who need constant assessment \u2013 monitoring and support of their vital functions with drugs or special equipment. Critically ill patients receive medication and their vital functions are continuously supported and monitored using modern equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During hospitalization, the patient is cared for by specially trained staff: doctors specialized in Intensive Care<\/strong>, experienced nursing staff, physiotherapists, dieticians and other health professionals with specialized knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TECHNOLOGICAL EQUIPMENT AND INTERNATIONAL PRACTICES<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The ICU of Genesis Clinic includes 2 levels of hospitalization:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Level I: <\/strong>This includes the simple monitoring of a patient (e.g. after a long surgery) as an Intermediate Care Unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Level II: <\/strong>Includes the full range of intensive care and medical care of a critically ill patient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The international standard equipment of the ICU includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Specialized <\/strong>intensive care unit beds <\/strong>with special air mattresses to prevent pressure sores<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Monitors<\/strong>, for monitoring vital functions <\/strong>(heartbeats, respirations, oxygenation per minute, blood pressure)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Ventilators<\/strong>, machines for the direct support of respiratory function<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Infusion pumps <\/strong>for precise intravenous administration <\/strong>ofthe required fluids and drugs to patients<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • A blood gas analyzer <\/strong>in which a very small amount of blood is used to directly monitor oxygenation<\/strong>, ventilation<\/strong>, electrolytes <\/strong>and other elements necessary for the monitoring of the critically ill patient<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Special <\/strong>CRRT <\/strong>machine <\/strong>for continuous renal replacement therapy <\/strong>in cases of acute renal or multi-organ failure<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Graduated compression\/decompression pants <\/strong>to prevent thrombosis and avoid pulmonary embolism<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Telemetry system <\/strong>with monitors in all areas of the ICU for the continuous monitoring and recording <\/strong>ofpatients\u2019 vital functions<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Ultrasound to check the heart and other vital organs<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Portable X-ray machine <\/strong>to perform an X-ray <\/strong>without the need to move the patient<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Portable ventilator and <\/strong>monitor <\/strong>for the transport and monitoring of the patient within the clinic (e.g. in order to perform MRI and CT scans)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    It is worth noting that both the admission and the discharge of patients from the ICU is carried out under the responsibility of the doctors and based on internationally accepted criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    INFORMATION ON THE PATIENTS\u2019 HEALTH TRAJECTORY<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Before the visit, the ICU Director or the Intensivist on duty: \u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Will inform you about the condition, progress and possible health problems of your loved one.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The information is addressed only to immediate family members (spouse, children, parents, siblings) and medical confidentiality does not allow information to be given over the phone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      VISITING HOURS<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      • Visiting hours for ICU patients are set from 11:00 to 12:00, every day of the week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Upon entering the ICU, you are obliged to follow the instructions of the nursing staff and wear the appropriate protective clothing provided to you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Next to each patient\u2019s bed, there is a special antiseptic solution. Please use it before and after your visit as part of your infection control.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • During the visit, it is recommended that one person at a time is next to the patient.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Children under 12 years of age are not allowed to visit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • If you have a cold or other respiratory infection, it is advisable to avoid visiting the patient. The condition of patients in the ICU is critical and exposure to viruses and infections can put their health at particular risk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Please respect and apply the special measures as requested in case of epidemics or special infections (Covid19, Influenza, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        The specially trained staff of the ICU in all specialties, is exclusively employed in this area.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Every patient is not just a \u201ccase\u201d for us. He is a fellow human being who needs our professional care, but at the same time deserves respect for his needs and personality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
