The GENESIS Clinic has a specially equipped Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), for newborns that require increased monitoring <\/strong>or intensive care <\/strong>after birth. In addition, the pediatricians who support the delivery rooms and the NICU are specialized neonatologists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NICU includes 3 levels of hospitalization:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Level I: <\/strong>Includes simple monitoring of each newborn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Level II: <\/strong>Includes intermediate care for the newborn, i.e. increased care and some degree of short-term, more intensive care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Level III: <\/strong>Includes the full range of intensive care and medical care of the newborn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its equipment is cutting-edge, of international standards, and includes:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  • Incubators<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Monitors, for monitoring vital functions <\/strong>(heartbeats, respirations, oxygenation per minute, blood pressure)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Ventilators, machines for the direct support of respiratory function<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Slow infusion pumps for precise intravenous administration of <\/strong>the required fluids and milk to newborns<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Neo-puff, a machine that is necessary for cardiopulmonary resuscitation <\/strong>after birth, especially for premature babies<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • A blood gas analyzer in which a very small amount of blood is used to directly check oxygenation<\/strong>, ventilation<\/strong>, electrolytes <\/strong>and other elements necessary for monitoring the newborn<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Portable X-ray machine to perform an X-ray <\/strong>without the need to move the baby<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • State-of-the-art phototherapy for the treatment of jaundice<\/strong>, whether the baby is in an incubator or in the cot<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Portable incubator <\/strong>with integrated ventilator for the transfer of the newborn, whenever needed, from the NICU of our clinic to a public hospital<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Head ultrasound to check the brain <\/strong>and heart ultrasound<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    To promote breastfeeding, there is a separate area for pumping breast milk until the baby is able to breastfeed. There are also special areas for parents and newborns to coexist, when possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In the NICU, the monitoring <\/strong>and treatment of newborns is carried out meticulously on a 24-hour basis <\/strong>by specialized and experienced neonatologists as well as by well-trained nursing staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    During the stay of the newborns in the NICU, parents can visit <\/strong>tosee their newborns several times during the day. Information on the development and progress of the diseases is provided regularly every day from 12:00 to 13:00 and 18:00 to 19:00 and, where appropriate, when it is deemed necessary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
