The Department of Medical Oncology at GENESIS General Clinic is a modern Day Care Unit that provides specialized services to oncology patients. This department complements the medical and nursing services provided by the GENESIS Clinic, which in 2021 evolved into a General Clinic, maintaining its leading role in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Our team is always on standby to immediately identify and address any adverse reactions. Timely management of side effects helps to ensure that treatment can continue safely and improves the patient’s daily life and quality of life.

Before, during, and after treatment, we perform systematic laboratory and clinical tests. This allows us to closely monitor your health, evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment, and adjust the treatment plan where necessary.

The spatial layout of the unit allows for continuous supervision and monitoring of patients. Medication is administered in special armchairs and hospital rooms, ensuring privacy. Each patient has their own space, with a TV, radio, telephone, and companion chair.

All chemotherapy regimens are prepared under sterile conditions in a special chamber, using a vertical laminar flow machine, while the drugs are administered using special electronic pumps to ensure accuracy in the method and timing of administration.

• How long does a session last?

The duration of the session depends on the type of treatment planned (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or other supportive therapies). It usually ranges from 1 to 4 hours, depending on the protocol set by the treating physician. Before each session, the nursing staff will inform you of the estimated length of your stay in the Department.

• What should I watch out for at home after treatment?

Post-treatment instructions vary depending on the type of treatment. In general, it is recommended that:

  • Rest and avoid strenuous physical activity on the same day.
  • Stay well hydrated and eat a light, balanced diet.
  • Monitor your body for any symptoms such as fever, severe fatigue, nausea, or any changes that concern you.

The results are communicated in the manner that best serves the patient:

  • Electronic transmission via email, provided that the patient has given their consent and the Department’s procedures allow it.
